CHICAGO, IL – August 30, 2024 – Rising pop rock singer-songwriter Alexis Plaen releases her debut single, “Needle in a Groove.” This powerful electronic-pop anthem makes a bold statement against capitalist structures, blending immersive soundscapes with sharp, socially conscious lyrics.
Originally from Chaska, MN, Alexis began writing songs at the age of eight and has been honing her craft ever since. Now based in Chicago, IL, she has poured her life experiences and artistic vision into “Needle in a Groove,” a track that captures the frustration and disillusionment of navigating a world driven by profit.
The song is deeply inspired by Alexis’ experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her journey took a tragic turn in 2023 when her apartment burned down while she was working late at the studio. She returned to find her home and many personal belongings, including cherished art pieces and her beloved pet cat, lost to the flames.
Despite this devastating loss, Alexis’ resilience shone through. She recreated everything from scratch, including her iconic silver claws, which are prominently featured in the single’s artwork. “Needle in a Groove” is more than just a song; it’s a rallying cry for change and a testament to Alexis’ unyielding spirit.
